For our last road trip of the summer, Dan and I took Darby and his three spotted siblings to Winslow, Arizona the weekend of September 6th. We stood on the ever-famous corner at Standin’ on the Corner Park and had our photo taken in front of the two-story mural by Trompe L'oeil artist, John Pugh. The park and its corner in historic downtown Winslow are a popular tourist destination made famous by the lyrics of the 1970’s Eagles the song "Take It Easy." If you need a refresher on the lyrics, here are two lines from the song: “Well I'm standin' on a corner in Winslow, Arizona, such a fine sight to see. The cabin itself was very simple (only a bed, an air conditioner/heater, and a shelf), but it did have a cute little porch swing and picnic table outside. Renting the cabin worked out wonderfully for the six of us and I would definitely recommend using KOA cabins for any quick and easy road trip. The photo attached to the right is a photo of the kids and me on the front porch of our little cabin.
On the way home, our furry pack stopped off for a visit at the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert, enjoying the 28 mile drive through the park and taking in a few short hikes. Darby is a good traveler and is getting along fantastically well with each of his adoptive siblings, especially his long-haired sister who likes to wrestle and play with Darby for hours at a time.
